About Dr. Tam

Dr. Tam (she/her) is the founder of Empire Wellness Group - a boutique practice where she provides DEI&B consultation and training, psychotherapy, and supervision.

​

Dr. Tam is a published practitioner-scholar, most recently on Cultural Humility, the Cultural Formulation Interview, and First-generation College Students. 

​​

She has presented locally and nationally on cultural humility, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and working with first-generation college students. 

​​

  • Princeton University, School of Public and International Affairs - Graduate student life and co-curricular programming. 

  • Rutgers-Counseling Center where she manages and supervises staff and trainees in group psychotherapy. 

  • The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in NYC

  • District Council 37 (the largest public employee union in NYC)

 Dr. Tam’s professional area of interest include:

  • working with individuals and communities of color

  • training emergent clinicians

  • diversity and inclusion workshops

  • first-generation college students, graduates, and professionals.

  • advocating to destigmatize mental health in marginalized communities

​

​Dr. Tam was involved at the national level in Social Work training programs in Counseling Centers.

​

When not working, you'll find her cooking and trying new food, traveling, gardening, crafting, or spending time with her family & friends.
